Tonight’s episode of American Idol was a bit of a doozie. Well, that’s probably an understatement. It was kind of confusing!

Picture it: Colton, Holly and Phillip on one side; Jessica, Joshua and Elise on the other. It was really unclear throughout the evening which group was on top, and who on the bottom — and in true AI fashion, they left us hanging right ’till the end.

We later find out it was the latter, with Jessica, Joshua and Elise in the bottom three. “This is a ridiculous bottom three,” judge Randy Jackson declared.

Later, during Jessica’s last-save performance, judge Jennifer Lopez abruptly runs on stage, grabbed the mic and exclaimed ”You ain’t going home. Go sit down, go sit down!”

Ouch, that’s gotta hurt, hey DeAndre?!

“This is one of the best singers in America!” Randy exclaimed, adding “Are you kidding me?! Vote for the best!”

Producers flashed “#thesave” on the screen, where fans took to Twitter to discuss the dramatic save of the young singer, with some expressing some less than thrilled opinions.

Jennifer Hudson was also featured on tonight’s show, performing her single “Think Like A Man” with R&B artist Neo. American Idol season 10 alum James Durban also made an appearance, performing his new single, “Higher Than Heaven.”
